Ongoing Events

This year, COVID-19 has disrupted our schedule.  While we are offering Storytime with Mrs. Liz, it is by reservation on specific dates.  Please call the library for details.  All other in-person sessions have been canceled until further notice.  We hope to be back to “normal” as soon as we can!

Storytime with Mrs. Liz – Thursdays 10am         Storytime will be held on Thursdays for 10 weeks in the autumn, 15 weeks in the winter/spring and 6 weeks each summer.  You can call the library for exact dates depending on the time of year.  For children aged 3 and above! 


Sensory Play or Baby & Me Lapsit – Wednesdays 10am  With Miss Angela, introduce your baby (newborns through 2 yrs old) to the library. On the first Wednesday of every month, your child can visit our Sensory Play stations.  These areas stimulate your child’s senses and assist with educational development.  On the other Wednesdays, Baby & Me Lapsit with your little one includes songs, books, & finger plays. The session will run for 10 weeks each autumn, 15 weeks each winter/spring and 6 weeks each summer. Call us for exact dates.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library – For Those Living in Zip Code 13032

Through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, children in the Canastota area may receive the gift of a specially selected book each month. There is no cost for this program. The only requirement is that the children be between the ages of birth and five years old and reside in the 13032 area code. Interested parents may obtain a registration form at the library.

American Girl Book Club

For girls ages 8 – 12, this group meets monthly at the library to read books from the American Girl Book Series and to participate in activities related to the particular book or time period.  Call the library for more information on meeting days/times.

Anime/Manga meets on Fridays, when school is in session, from 3 – 4pm

This group focuses on Japanese animation and Manga books.  A different book or anime is selected and the meetings focus on watching the Anime or reading the book and discussion.  Anime/Manga is for students in 6th grade and up.

PageTurners meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 – 7:30pm

PageTurners is our book club for students in grades 6 and up.  We read one book a month and then read to discuss it as a group.  Books are available a month prior to their discussion.

GEMS-Girls interested in Engineering, Math and Science

This group is for girls ages 10 and up.  The group meets the first Friday of every month that school is in session from 3pm until 4:30pm.  There is no January meeting.

Robotics Sessions

Afterschool robotics is held on specific Wednesdays in the fall and spring.  In these sessions, students ages 9 – 14 meet to create and program robots. Call us about our sessions.  A weeklong summer camp is also held at the library.
